Two provinces issue invitations to apply for provincial nomination.

The two Canadian provinces of Ontario and Manitoba have recently issued (ITAs) invitations to apply to have eligible candidates participate in the latest PNP draws, hence allowing them to take the first step towards becoming permanent residents of Canada. The PNP is one of Canada’s most popular immigration programs and every Canadian province except for Quebec and Nunavut operate its own PNP and invite interested candidates to participate in a provincial nomination.

Ontario

The Canadian province of Ontario held its PNP draws on December 21, in which the province invited 725 candidates from the Master’s Graduate stream of the (ONIP) Ontario Immigration Nominee Program.

In order for Candidates to be eligible for this stream they have to fulfill the following criteria mentioned below:

  • Must have a master’s degree from an eligible university in Ontario.

  • Language requirement: Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 or higher (English or French).

  • Must have legally lived in Ontario for at least one year in the past two years.

The Canadian province of Ontario has the highest population out of all the provinces and also welcomes the largest number of newcomers each year. Ontario is also allocated the largest number of spots for inviting candidates for PNP draws. Ontario also announced on 22nd December that it has invited a total of 9,750 candidates to participate in PNP draws which was the maximum number of candidates the province was allocated for the year 2022.

Furthermore, Ontario has also stated that new applications, and applications that have already been submitted to the OINP, will continue to be accepted and considered under the program’s 2023 nomination allocation.

Manitoba

The Province of Manitoba invited only 16 candidates to participate in PNP draws on 29 December 2022. Manitoba invited these candidates through special immigration measures implemented by the (IRCC) Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and was done in response to the situation in Ukraine.

In order for Candidates to be eligible for the (MPNP) Manitoba Provincial Nomination Program they are required to fulfill the following Criteria:

  • are a citizen of Ukraine;

  • have a minimum of CLB 4 in each language band;

  • have established connection to Manitoba (close relative, family-like, community, previous employment or studies in Manitoba);

  • have a valid language test; and

  • score at least 60 points according to MPNP assessment criteria.
