Relief for 482/457 visa holders to return to Australia 

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, many of 482/457 visa holders are unable to return to Australia. Or they can continue to work for their sponsor employer due to Australia’s international border closure. Now there is a concession for 482/457 visa holders who are outside Australia with expired visas. Or those who are 482/457 visa holders but it will expire and want to return to Australia for their sponsor. 

Concessions until 31 December 2022 

Such visa holders outside Australia whose visas will expire or already expired during 1 February 2020 and 31 December 2021. Those can apply for a further visa for free when an application is made between 27th February 2021 and December 31st, 2022. While the nomination requirements will remain the same as they were earlier. 

Travel exemptions 

Temporary visa holders will have approved travel exceptions but we still expect relief for 482/457 visa holders. As Australia international border restrictions are still in place and these visa holders previously suffered because they were unable to return to Australia
