Canada Reveals New Restrictions on International Students
Marc Miller, Canadian Immigration Minister has brought forth new restrictions for International students that will take effect in 2024. Applying students will have to display accessibility to a minimum of $20,635 instead of the previous $10,000. This amount will be calculated separately from tuition and travel fees. This amount will now be modified every year based on the living costs in Canada. An exemption allowing international students to work 20+ hours a week off campus will be kept in place until April 2024.
Extra Work hours
To apply for extra work hours the following requirements have to be met:
- Taking physical classes in a Canadian post-secondary institution.
- Their student permit must show authorization for off-campus work.
These extra work hours will be perfect for foreign students as it provides them a way to alleviate some of their financial burdens.
