Global UGRAD Pakistan Program Ends After 15 Years

Global UGRAD Exchange Program for Pakistan Comes to an End After 15 Remarkable Years

After 15 years of life-changing opportunities, the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program for Pakistan, known as Global UGRAD, has officially ended. The U.S. Department of State has informed the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) that the program will no longer continue.

The news comes as a surprise and disappointment to many young students across the country who were hoping to participate this year. Global UGRAD has been more than just an exchange program — it has been a transformative journey for thousands of students, helping them grow academically, explore new cultures, and develop strong leadership skills.

Since its launch, the program has allowed Pakistani undergraduates to study in the United States for one semester, giving them exposure to American university life, volunteer work, and cultural experiences that enriched both their personal and academic lives.

Over the years, UGRAD alumni have gone on to become changemakers, community leaders, and professionals in diverse fields. The impact of the program has rippled far beyond classrooms — it has built lifelong friendships, cross-cultural understanding, and strong connections between Pakistan and the United States.

“We know this announcement is deeply disappointing for many students who dreamed of being part of Global UGRAD,” a statement from USEFP read. “We are incredibly proud of what this program has achieved and of the students who made it such a success.”

While this chapter has ended, students are encouraged to remain hopeful and seek out other international scholarships and exchange opportunities. The spirit of learning, growth, and global connection that UGRAD embodied continues to live on in its alumni and in new opportunities waiting to be explored.
