Canada Issues 825 Express Entry Invitations
Express Entry ITAs
This recent draw is the first Express Entry draw since the recent changes to the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has invited 825 candidates to apply for permanent residence under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).
High CRS Score Needed
To be eligible for this draw, candidates were required to have:
- A minimum CRS score of 764
- An Express Entry profile was created before 6:35 PM UTC on August 17, 2024
This draw, held on April 14, 2025, marks the first Express Entry round of invitations for the month. It follows a significant policy update that removed CRS points for arranged employment. The change could impact future draws by adjusting how scores are calculated, affecting candidates’ overall competitiveness.

Canada’s Immigration Goals for 2025
According to the 2025–2027 Immigration Levels Plan, Canada aims to welcome 124,680 new permanent residents through the Express Entry system this year. However, it’s important to understand that the ITAs issued do not directly represent the number of immigrants who will land in Canada.
- An Invitation to Apply (ITA) is simply a formal offer from IRCC to apply for permanent residency.
- A landing, on the other hand, refers to when the candidate physically arrives in Canada and officially becomes a permanent resident.
Not every ITA results in a landing. Applications may be declined, incomplete, withdrawn, or even refused. It means that the number of ITAs is always higher than the number of successful landings.
What to Do If You Receive an ITA
If you receive an Express Entry ITAs through Express Entry, you have 60 days to submit a complete application for permanent residency. Failing to respond within this timeframe will result in the expiration of your ITA.
To apply, you must prepare and submit the following documents:
- Valid passport or travel document
- Birth certificate
- Proof of work experience (e.g., letters from employers)
- Police clearance certificates from all countries where you’ve lived for 6+ months
- Results from an immigration medical exam
- Proof of settlement funds (bank statements or financial documents)
- Photographs of yourself and any accompanying family members
Conclusion
This latest PNP draw reflects Canada’s continued commitment to attracting skilled workers through both general and targeted pathways like French-language and Canadian Experience Class streams. Removing CRS points for arranged employment is expected to shift dynamics in upcoming draws.
