US State Department Refutes Travel Ban List Reports

US State Department Denies Reports of Travel Ban List

The US State Department Denies Report of Travel Ban List which has rejected reports claiming that the government is preparing a list to impose new visa restrictions on several countries.

At a recent press briefing, State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce clarified that no such list exists and dismissed rumors about Afghanistan facing a complete visa suspension.

She acknowledged that the Trump administration is reviewing visa policies as part of a broader security assessment, following an executive order issued on January 20. However, she stressed that this review does not mean a travel ban is being enforced on specific countries.

“There is no list. What people have been seeing over the past few days is not an official document being acted upon,” Bruce stated.

Reports had surfaced about a draft memo listing 41 countries under three different categories of travel restrictions. According to Reuters, the memo suggested:

  • Full visa suspension for nations like Afghanistan, Iran, Syria, Cuba, and North Korea.
  • Partial restrictions for five countries, affecting tourist, student, and some immigrant visas.
  • Conditional suspensions for 26 countries, including Pakistan and Turkmenistan, if their governments do not address security concerns within 60 days.

Despite these claims, the State Department reaffirmed its commitment to resettling Afghans who assisted the US in Afghanistan and reiterated that no official ban list is in place. For further assistance in United States visa information, contact or visit Asif Consulting
