Who Quali fies for the Interview Waiver?

B-1 Visa (for business travelers)
B-2 Visa (for visitors and tourists)
A-1, A-2, and C-3 Visas (for diplomats and government officials)
G-1, G-2, G-3, G-4, and NATO-1 through NATO-6 Visas (for representatives of international organizations and military personnel)
TECRO E-1 Visa Holders (for Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office representatives)
Diplomatic and Official US Visa Holders
Visa Renewal Applicants (if your former visa expired within the past 12 months)

Important Notes:

Although you may be eligible for an interview waiver, the US Consular Office can still insist on an in-person interview in exceptional circumstances. This implies that you should always be ready for further screening if required.

Who Still Needs a Visa Interview?

If your visa category is not among those exempted, you will still have to come for a personal interview. To be eligible for a U.S Waives Visa interview, you must:

Apply from the country of your nationality
Not have had a prior visa refusal (except in cases where the refusal was overridden or waived)
Satisfy all the eligibility criteria for the visa category that you are applying for
This update supersedes an earlier release by the US Department of State on December 21, 2023.
