Canada has recently concluded its latest Express Entry draw. Canada has invited 676 candidates receiving 676 Provincial Nominee Invitations to apply for permanent residency. Here’s information about this draw and what is in store for Express Entry candidates.
Key Details Of The December 2, 2024 Draw
- Type of Draw: Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
- Number of Invitations: 676
- Minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) Score: 705
- Tie-Breaking Rule: Only profiles created before November 27, 2024, at 6:15 PM UTC, were considered.
This draw exclusively targeted candidates who already had a provincial nomination, which gives them an automatic 600-point boost in their CRS score.

Why This Draw Matters?
This round saw a significant drop in the CRS score, from over 800 points in recent draws to 705 points. In comparison, earlier PNP-specific draws in November had CRS cutoffs of 812 and 816.
The lowered cutoff means more candidates had the chance to receive an invitation, bringing relief to many hoping for an opportunity to move forward in their immigration journey.
PNP Invitations In 2024
This year, the number of invitations issued through PNP draws has varied widely each month. Here’s a breakdown of the monthly numbers:
- May: 2,985
- June: 1,499
- July: 3,275
- August: 1,884
- September: 911
- October: 2,261
- November: 907
- December (so far): 676
Altogether, 14,398 invitations have been issued through PNP-specific draws in 2024, across 13 rounds.
What To Expect Next?
There might still be one more PNP-specific draw in December, as Canada has always held draws in the week before Christmas. For instance, in 2023, there were draws on December 18, 19, 20, and 21. Still, it’s unlikely that there will be draws on December 30 or 31.
As predicted, the next round could focus on candidates in the Canadian Experience Class. Watch for the next round if you are eligible for this category.
Changes Expected In 2025
Canada is undertaking sweeping changes in its Provincial Nominee Program immigration levels plan starting next year. According to the latest immigration levels plan, admissions to PNP will decrease more than 50% from 120,000 in 2024 to 55,000 in 2025.
This reduction means there will likely be fewer invitations in PNP-specific draws in 2025, although the frequency of draws is expected to remain the same. On the bright side, the government has allocated 82,980 spots for applicants already living in Canada, which may offset some of the impact.
