IRCC Issues 3,000 Invitations in Latest CEC Draw
In a surprise move, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held a Canadian Experience Class draw July 2025 (CEC) Express Entry draw today — Tuesday, July 8, 2025 — instead of the usual Thursday schedule.
This draw brought good news for many candidates:
- 3,000 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) were issued
- The CRS cut-off score was 518, the lowest of the year for CEC candidates
- The tie-breaking rule was set for October 2, 2024, at 1:48:36 UTC
- This was Draw #355 in the Express Entry system
What Does This Mean?
This draw is part of a recent trend. IRCC has now held three CEC-only draws in a row, each inviting 3,000 candidates. Even more encouraging is that the CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) score has been falling slowly over these draws:
- June 12, 2025: 3,000 ITAs, CRS cut-off 529
- June 26, 2025: 3,000 ITAs, CRS cut-off 521
- July 8, 2025: 3,000 ITAs, CRS cut-off 518
That’s a drop of 11 points in less than a month — a small but promising change that could give hope to many candidates sitting just below the cut-off in earlier rounds.
Why Is This Important?
The CEC category has now become the most active Express Entry stream in 2025, with 18,850 total invitations issued so far. This slightly edges out the French-language proficiency category, which stands at 18,500 ITAs.
This could be a sign that IRCC is focusing more on candidates who are already working and living in Canada — the core of the CEC stream.
Patterns to Watch
- This is the third Canadian Experience Class draw July 2025 in a row to issue exactly 3,000 ITAs.
- The CRS cut-off is gradually decreasing, showing a slight softening of competition.
- The draw occurred on a Tuesday instead of Thursday, possibly indicating increased frequency or flexibility in scheduling.
If this trend continues, candidates may start seeing a more predictable pattern in CEC draws — something that has been missing in 2025 so far.
What’s Next?
There’s speculation that the next draw, possibly on July 10, could focus on French-speaking candidates or skilled trades.
If you’re in the Express Entry pool under the Canadian Experience Class draw July 2025, this may be your time to shine. Keep your documents updated and monitor the scores closely — your invitation could be just around the corner!
