Canada Launches $86 Million Program to Help International Nurses Settle and Work Faster

Canada launches $86 million program for nurses ,  support program to help over 6,600 internationally educated nurses (IENs) start their careers in the country. Through this initiative, eligible nurses can receive up to CAD 10,000 to cover costs like credential recognition, licensing exams, and training.

A key part of the program is the PASS (Pre-Arrival Supports and Services) initiative, run by the Canadian Nurses Association. PASS offers free, personalized support to IENs before they even arrive in Canada. Services include:

  • Nursing-specific English training (84 hours)
  • Mentorship from Canadian nurses
  • Webinars on licensing and job trends
  • Help with resume writing, interviews, and settlement
  • Access to provincial resources and peer networks

To join PASS, nurses must:

  • Live outside Canada
  • Have completed a recognized nursing degree
  • Be approved for permanent residence by IRCC
  • Plan to work as a nurse in Canada

This move is especially helpful for nurses entering long-term care and understaffed healthcare areas. It’s a big step toward filling workforce gaps and ensuring smoother integration for newcomers.

How to Apply:

Eligible nurses can register on the Canadian Nurses Association website, submit documents, and wait for confirmation from the PASS team. For further information, contact Asif Consulting

For nurses aiming to build a future in Canada, this is a golden opportunity to get the support, training, and guidance they need — even before landing.
