Express Entry Draw Trends in 2025

So far this year, IRCC has issued a total of 41,845 invitations to apply (ITAs) under the Express Entry system.

Breakdown by draw category:

  • Provincial Nominee Program (PNP): 11 draws

  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC): 6 draws

  • French Language Proficiency: 3 draws

  • Healthcare and Social Services: 2 draws

  • Education: 1 draw

Is There a Shift in IRCC’s Strategy?

Until recently, the focus of the Canada Express Entry June 26 draw was mainly on PNP candidates. Between February and early June, there were no CEC draws at all.

Now, with two large CEC draws back-to-back (June 12 and June 26), IRCC may be signaling a return to regular invitations for skilled workers who already have Canadian work experience. These candidates are typically easier to integrate into the job market.

However, while this may seem like a positive shift for CEC hopefuls, it is still too early to confirm if IRCC will consistently hold more CEC-focused draws in the coming months.

Who Benefits from CEC Draws?

CEC draws are specifically for candidates who:

  • Have at least one year of skilled work experience in Canada

  • Meet language requirements

  • Plan to live outside of Quebec (Quebec has its own immigration system)

These draws offer a valuable pathway for international students and temporary foreign workers who have already built their lives in Canada.

Stay tuned for future draw announcements to see how Canada continues to shape its immigration goals in 2025.
