Bulgarian Citizenship 2024: 16,000 New Citizens Approved

Bulgarian Citizenship to Over 16,000 People in 2024

In 2024, Bulgarian citizenship was granted to more than 16,000 foreign nationals. It marked a significant increase from the previous year. It also represents a 33.3% rise compared to 2023 when approximately 12,000 people received Bulgarian passports.

Among the new citizens, Turkish and Ukrainian nationals were the largest groups to acquire Bulgarian citizenship. The top four nationalities that received Bulgarian passports in 2024 are:
