New developments Canada is making in the spousal and common-law partner sponsorship programs submission system
The IRCC is shifting its application process for most permanent immigration programs, including both inland and outland spousal and common-law partner sponsorship to 100% online.
In its attempts to improve services provided to clients, the IRCC Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada has decided to completely digitalize the application process for Canada’s inland and outland spousal and common-law partner sponsorship programs.
Previously the IRCC had allowed the submission of online applications for permanent immigration programs like spousal sponsorship along with giving applicants multiple methods to apply for these programs up until 23rd September 2022. However, now Canada is changing this system to accept online applications for inland and outland spousal and common-law partner sponsorship as well.
This change is being implemented for client comfort as according to the IRCC the online application system gives applicants more flexibility in their application process and also allows them to confirm whether they have successfully submitted their application. This process will be facilitated through the Permanent Residence Portal which is not only active but has also allowed some immigration hopefuls to submit online applications for other programs since March 31, 2021.

How to apply for spousal and common-law partner sponsorship programs
First of all, you need to make sure that both the sponsor and the dependent applicant meet the eligibility requirement before applying for spousal or common-law partner sponsorship.
Furthermore do not forget that you are required to submit two applications at the same time in order to apply for the spousal and common-law partner sponsorship one of which is from the Canadian sponsor to in fact sponsor their spouse/partner as well as the dependent’s permanent residence application.
