Quebec immigration department held the biggest Arrima draw inviting 515 immigration candidates

Biggest draw of the year so far, held by the Quebec Immigration department held on August 12. In this recent draw 515 immigration candidates are invited to apply for Permanent Residence. But details of the draw were released on August 19.

Quebec Regular Skilled Worker Program

MIFI has invited candidates under the Quebec Regular Skilled Worker Program for the candidates with Expression of Interest in Arrima. And Arrima is Quebec’s online registration portal. Candidates with EOI want to notify the ministry of education to be considered for CSQ which is Quebec Selection Certificate. After getting CSQ, candidates can apply for permanent residence afterwards. A first invitation round after the introduction of a new classification system of QRSWP migration candidates.

Categories of Invited candidates

Immigration candidates fell into following categories:

  • Invited candidates have targeted occupations with at least 591 scores on Arrima Expression of Interest.
  • Valid job offer which should be outside of the Montreal Metropolitan Area.
  • Residing in Quebec as a diplomat, United Nations representative of any intergovernmental organization.
  • Self-employed.

So far this year it’s the sixth draw. The province is conducting a draw on a monthly basis. And by now 1,060 candidates are invited for permanent residence. In total 1,060 immigration candidates have been invited to apply for permanent residence.

Arrima Expression of Interest Pool

This system was introduced in 2018 to manage the pool for the applications. Previously it was based on a first-come, first-served basis. Candidates through the QRSWP first create an EOI profile in Arrima. Candidates are placed in a pool and then given a score based on a criteria list.

New Point System

Recently in July, the province has launched a new points system to rank the profiles in the Arrima Expression of Interest pool. In total 1,320 points among which 580 are for the human capital factors. And the remaining 740 points are for Quebec’s labour market demand. The human capital factors include language proficiency, work experience, education, age and bilingual language ability.
