New Invitations Sent for Work Permits

Canada sent out 4,603 work permit invitations last week through the International Experience Canada (IEC) program. We have seen a significant increase from the 2,669 invitations sent last week.

Categories and Invitations

1. Working Holiday:

  • Invitations: 4,152
  • Current Pool: 33,394 candidates from 34 countries
  • Available Spots: 19,285
  • Processing Time: About 5 weeks

The Working Holiday category allows people to work for almost any employer in Canada without a job offer before applying. This situation is ideal for those who want to:

  • Work for multiple employers
  • Work in different locations
  • Earn money to travel around Canada

Country-Specific Details:

  • Australia: 512 invitations, unlimited spots, excellent chances of future invitations.
  • Germany: 216 invitations, 2,218 candidates in the pool, excellent chances.
  • France: 136 invitations, 17,876 candidates in the pool, very low chances.

2. Young Professionals:

  • Invitations: 323
  • Current Pool: 576 candidates
  • Available Spots: 4,168

This category comes with a job offer from a Canadian employer. This specific visa is employer-specific, which means the candidate must work for the same employer in the same location.

Country-Specific Details:

  • France: 142 invitations, 1,074 available spots, excellent chances.
  • United Kingdom: 33 invitations, 698 available spots, excellent chances.

3. International Co-op (Internship):

  • Invitations: 128
  • Current Pool: 38 candidates
  • Available Spots: 2,364

This category is for students who need to complete a work placement or internship in Canada to finish their education. The visa is also employer-specific.

Country-Specific Details:

  • France: 108 invitations, 1,780 available spots, excellent chances.
  • UK: 7 invitations, 90 available spots, excellent chances.

Fees for IEC 2024

The IEC program fees for 2024 are as follows:

  • General IEC Fee: $172 CAD
  • Working Holiday Applicants: Additional $100 CAD fee
  • Young Professionals and International Co-op: No additional fees for applicants, but employers must pay a $230 CAD compliance charge
  • Biometrics Fee: $85 CAD (if required)

The IEC 2024 season was started on December 11, 2023, however, the first round of invitations took place in January 2024.
