Predictions for CRS score of 2024

The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS score) is a significant topic for people looking to work in Canada through the Express Entry Program. Many individuals are worried due to the above-average scores required in 2023 with the CRS scores ranging up to a minimum of 791. Naturally, these high CRS cut-off scores have left many people wondering about the CRS scores we would experience in the year 2024.

What to expect in 2024?

Although we can’t predict the CRS scores of 2024 with total accuracy we can make speculate highly likely scores by studying the factors that determine the CRS score. One of the factors for this is the Express Entry popularity which can both impact the CRS score cut-offs and the draw sizes of an Express Entry draw. There is also the introduction of category-based draws which was introduced in 2023 and aimed to more accurately choose what Canada needs in its labour market. The categories used in 2023 were:

  • Healthcare occupations
  • STEM occupations
  • Trade occupations
  • Transport occupations
  • Agriculture and Agricultural Food occupations
  • French Language Proficiency

This implies that candidates are more likely to receive invitations to apply for permanent residence.

There is also the addition of Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates in Express Entry draws. These candidates are given an extra 600 CRS points through provincial nominations in Express Entry-aligned PNP streams. This also increases the overall CRS cut-off scores. Below are the draws of 2023 by their categories.
