Brief description of payments for responding to an (ITA) Invitation to Apply

The decision to Immigration to Canada is quite a major one a person can take but it is one that ultimately brings a lot of benefits in the form of better-quality education, healthcare, earnings, and all-around living standards.

To explain the benefits in more detail, it was revealed through a study done by the (IRCC) Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada in 2020 that out of the total number of applicants who gained permanent residency through Express Entry, 95% were established economically (having high employment rates, and level of income) and out of this 95% more than 80% of the applicants were granted work in their primary field. Moreover, among these workers nearly half of them were in professions that normally required a university degree (TEER 1). These benefits were further enhanced by the fact the successful applicants earned higher salaries in comparison to the average Canadian worker.

Therefore, in order to ensure that your Express Entry application process proceeds smoothly and you are also able to enjoy these benefits you should carefully consider the costs that are associated with applying for Express Entry that all applicants will have to provide to complete their application.

Required documents

After receiving an ITA, applicants are given 60 days to provide documents regarding their personal information once they accept the invitation for them to be considered for PR.

The documents that need to be provided are as follows:

Furthermore, depending on the Express Entry path you have taken additional documentation may also be needed, depending on what path of Express Entry you have pursued. These documents can include the following:

  • A letter of attestation from one’s employer;

  • Official transcripts of post-secondary education study program courses taken;

  • Proof of family relationship(s) in Canada;

  • Copies of work contracts and/or pay stubs; and

  • Documents relating to income taxation.

Please note that the documents are not only limited to these. You can also be asked to submit other documents depending on your Express Entry stream.

Costs Behind Applying

Please note that the costs are listed in Canadian dollars

Through the process of submitting your profile through Express Entry, you will have to deal with peripheral costs that come with securing all the documents needed for your application.

Two common examples of such costs are as follows:

Medical examination costs

For those who wish to immigrate to another country, it is necessary for them to go through an (IME) Immigration Medical Exam which is to be conducted by a panel physician. This part comprises a majority of the costs in the application process all of which need to be paid upfront and the medical exam results are only valid for 12 months after the test.

Furthermore, the cost of an IME can vary slightly for applicants they should more or less follow the same tiered pricing scheme (per an applicant’s age)*:

AGE

PRICE (CAD)

0-4 Years

$100

5-10 Years

$140

11-14 Years

$160

15-69 Years

$180

70+ Years

$230

Police clearance certificates

A Police clearance certificate is essential for the completion of your application to respond to an ITA. The cost for this is broken into two parts, the federal processing fees, and local processing fees according to the (RCMP) Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

The overall cost of these processing fees often falls between 30-35 Canadian dollars depending on which accredited agency and local authority provided you with the service.

The Expense of Success

Once all this is done then you experience the final expense which comes after the ITA has been successfully responded to and you have been granted a PR by the government because applicants are required to pay an (RPRF) Right of Permanent Residence Fee of $515 after they have been granted PR status

Once granted PR status, you are required to pay a Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF) of $515 per applicant. This is most likely the final expense you will have to fulfill aside from the costs of actually settling in Canada.
