Eighth all-program Express Entry draw since July 6
Canada held its eighth and most recent all-program Express Entry on October 12, 2022, with 4,250 candidates with a minimum (CRS) Comprehensive Ranking System score of 500. These candidates were invited through multiple programs that operate under the Express Entry system such as the (CEC) Comprehensive Ranking System, (FSWP) Federal Skilled Worker Program, and (FSTP) Federal Skilled Trades Program.
Furthermore, the minimum CRS score requirement for the all-program Express Entry draws was further reduced compared to the previous one as it has been doing since it was resumed on 6th July.
Physicians are now able to apply for all-program Express Entry
Physicians usually are not considered eligible to participate in all-program Express Entry draws since Canada’s medical system mostly works on a “fee-for-service” model which is different compared to the normal employer/ employee relationship. This technically means that physicians are self-employed which makes them ineligible to participate in all-program Express Entry draws however now Canada has removed some of the barriers that prevent physicians within Canada from applying for any Express Entry programs and they can now apply for the programs if they have over one-year work experience in Canada.
New developments in Express Entry
There are many changes that are expected to occur to Express Entry with the exception of physicians being the first among them. In June a Royal Assent was received by Bill C-19 in Parliament for the purpose of giving the IRCC more authority to target Express Entry candidates on the bases of specific work experience, education, or language abilities, instead of the current system of issuing ITAs to a wide range of candidates who meet the CRS scores requirement.
