Express Entry: Canada holds the largest all-program draw ever.
IRCC invites 7,000 candidates with the lowest CRS score of 490. This is the first all-program draw since January 18.IRCC held the seventh Express Entry draw of 2023 today
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued invitation letters to 7,000 candidates with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 490.
The number of ITAs in this draw beats the previous record of 5,500 candidates invited in the last all-program draw on January 18. In an all-programs invited applicants are considered from all three Express Entry routes:
- the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP),
- the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
- the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
Prior to 2023, all Express Entry draws were all-program draws that invited over 1,000 candidates each time and grew as the minimum CRS score decreased.
The IRCC has released Express Entry data for 2021.
A recent IRCC report summarizes Immigrant Visa statistics for 2021, which was a one-of-a-kind year in the program’s history.
All program draws were paused beginning in December 2020 to alleviate the backlog caused by COVID-19-related travel restrictions and border closures. IRCC kept issuing ITAs to Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates until September 2021, when CEC draws were also halted.
More than half, 64%, of ITAs have always been issued to recipients aged 20 to 29. Candidates in this age range receive 100 CRS points under the Comprehensive Ranking System. After the age of 30, candidates receive fewer points.Because of the pauses, the majority of ITAs were issued to candidates who were already temporary residents in Canada. However, some ITAs were still issued to candidates living in other countries. The five most important nationalities were as follows:
Canada has issued 102,806 ITAs,
Nigeria has received 1,432 ITAs.
806 ITAs have been issued in the United States.
People’s Republic of China: 687 ITAs have been issued.
What exactly is Express Entry?
Express Entry is in charge of three programs: the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP). Candidates who have been nominated through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) are already eligible for at least one Express Entry program.
How to maintain status in Canada as a CEC candidate with an expiring PGWP
As Express Entry draws continue to target PNP candidates, CEC candidates currently in Canada on a PGWP are worried about how to maintain status and stay in Canada while they wait.
CEC candidates in the Express Entry pool have not been invited to apply for permanent residence since the last all-program draw on January 18, nearly two months ago.
Since then, draws for candidates in the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) .the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) have been program-specific, leaving many Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) holders in the CEC concerned as their permits approach their expiration date.Express Entry draw patterns have been inconsistent compared to all draws compared to all draws held between July and November 2022. During that period, Express Entry draws were all-program, which meant that any candidate in the Express Entry application management system with a period, Express Entry draws were all-program, which meant that any candidate in the Express Entry application management system who had at least the minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score was eligible to win an invitation to apply (ITA).
